Pulling open a drawer she hasn’t touched
in what she’s thinking might be over nine years
Closing all the windows and doors,
while she’s been fighting off a fistful of some horrible tears
Taking a good look in the mirror,
thinking maybe probably she’s put on plenty of pounds
never seemed clearer to her,
she never should’ve went and married that ridiculous clown
It’s time for you to try on those jeans again
It’s time for you to hit all those scenes again
Fighting off all of those fiends again
They’ll be spending all of their greens again
Holding onto the phone while she’s been lying
on a freshly washed pile of clothes
Never had she felt more alone
on the giant bed at one time that together they chose
Turning up the TV, while she’s drowning out the scenes
that have been playing out inside of her brain
Feeling so sleazy to her, she’s thinking she would rather
stay home just to cry with the rain
It’s time for you to put on a face again
It’s time for you to carry some mace again
You’ll be feeling just like an ace again
Building an incredible base again
I was thinking I was finished
with these feelings that diminish me
Security protecting me, suddenly was dejecting me
An empty house so frightening,
I’m still shivering at the lightening
The pets still think he’s coming back,
even though they sat and watched him pack
his frickin’, rotten, stinkin’ bags
Pulling open a drawer she hasn’t touched
in what she’s thinking might be over nine years
Closing all the windows and doors,
while she’s been fighting off a fistful of some horrible tears
Firmly holding onto the seat,
the passenger is afraid but she’s still ready to ride
Maybe she will happen to meet someone who doesn’t know
about the long and lonely hours she cried
I’ve been dreaming of a lifetime,
from the daytime to the nighttime
Filled with hopes and promises
and a deep love that abolishes
I mean everything that’s hurtful,
you could never be too careful
Sometimes I wish he’s coming back,
even though he treated me like a filthy,
rotten, stinkin’ piece of rag

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
