Feeling like a heel all those years you were walking over me
Finally had to leave that time,
that time that you had crashed into that tree
Shaking both my lonely hands at the ticking
and the pounding of the clock
At night I turn the lights out and my heart’s been
feeling heavy as a rock and it’s sounding like a crock
and it’s sounding like someone who doesn’t try, who rather sit
at home and cry, there’s thing you must apply if you’re gonna
finally squeak by, and if you don’t wanna die, don’t buy into
that lie, I would think you’d wanna fly, wanna fly
Smoking half a cigarette, thinking somehow, somewhere,
sometime I got burned Eating all alone,
I wondered when and where the tables finally turned
I’d be selling my soul to Satan if I cowardly had
called you on the phone I rock myself to sleep at night and my
heart’s been feeling heavy as a stone, I should leave it all alone
You should let it out so it has a chance to breathe, you’d be
feeling so relieved, with no more time to grieve for ideas
unconceived, what if they all leave, don’t bother to retrieve,
never wear it on your sleeve, on your sleeve
Out of the way, all that I want, out of the gate
Feeling like a heel all of those years you were walking over me
Finally had to leave that time,
that time that you had crashed into that tree
Been shaking both my lonely hands at the ticking
and the pounding of the clock
At night I turn the lights out and my heart’s
been feeling heavy as a rock and it’s sounding like a crock
And it’s sounding like someone who’s giving away the best
part of his day to wallow in the hay of a horse that’s gone
astray, and he better not delay, if he’s thinking you might stay,
it’s getting harder everyday, everyday
Out of the way, all that I want, out of the gate
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
