Leaning back against the blinds
Another place another time
It came together for him then
Better weather, better friends,
better friends, better friends
He slams the door he stomps his feet
while in his heart the blood still beats
He wonders why these things won’t work
They left him feeling like a jerk
He smokes a butt, he drags in
He holds his gut, he fails to grin
He wonders where his future turns
as his inside slowly burns, slowly burns, slowly burns
He’ll clenches his fist, he’ll grind his teeth
And all he knew seems out of reach
That lovely life that he once knew
Now all he’ll do is sit and stew
Children come to stay for the day,
say the rest of the year is gonna be okay
He’s cursing all of their game and the shame,
wishing they would bring him back some of the fame
Sitting there, surrounded by gloom,
wonders how to lose all the doom in the room
Though he feels that his life is a con,
hasn’t any choice but to keep moving on
Light a little fire, light a little way,
the rest of the year is gonna be okay
Light a little fire, light a little way,
the rest of the year is gonna be okay Jerk!
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
